چکیده

Abstract Doped Gd 2 Zr O 7 materials have interesting properties as thermal barrier coatings (TBC) to replace the YSZ topcoats traditionally used. Here we investigate thermomechanical and phase relations of (GZO) alloyed with 5 mol% Yb 3 stabilized ZrO (YbSZ) in composition range (Gd ) 1− x , 0 ≤ 0.98. With increasing YbSZ content, transformations from ordered disordered pyrochlore fluorite tetragonal structures were observed. The expansion coefficient (TEC) Vickers hardness correlated showing a maximum (~ 11.5 GPa) minimum TEC at = 0.82. At 1000 °C, for end members, 0.98, 11.4 11.3 × 10 –6 K −1 respectively. fracture toughness, IC showed an average value around 1.5 MPa m 0.5 0.93 increased significantly 0.98 reaching 5.4 due presence ferroelastic phase. For TBC applications, compounds show promise high . Graphic abstract Fig. 5a summarize most important results manuscript. Showing significant increase toughness compositions x=0.98.

Thermophysical properties of thermal barrier coatings

Thin layers of thermal barrier coating (TBCs) are applied to metallic components of heat engines to reduce metal temperatures and to provide environmental protection. This results in increased engine efficiency and prolonged operational life. Of special current interest is the use of TBCs in aircraft engines. The TBCs, often yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ), are deposited on nickel or cobalt-ba...

AN INVESTIGATION ON EFFECT OF BOND COAT REPLACEMENT ON HOT CORROSION PROPERTIES OF THERMAL BARRIER COATINGS

In the present study NiCrAlY bond coating layer was produced by electroplating against common atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). Both types of the bond coats were applied on IN738LC base metal then, the YSZ (ZrO2-8% Y2O3) thermal barrier top layer was coated by atmospheric plasma spray technique. Hot corrosion is one of the main destructive factors in thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) which come ...

THE EFFECTS OF PLASMA SPRAY PARAMETERS ON THE MICROSTRUCTURE AND PHASE COMPOSITION OF THERMAL BARRIER COATINGS MADE BY SPPS PROCESS

In this paper the effect of plasma spray parameters, atomizing gas and substrate preheat temperature on microstructure and phase composition of YSZ coatings produced by SPPS process have been investigated. The experimental results showed that increasing the power of plasma, using hydrogen as the precursor atomizing gas and increasing substrate preheat temperature decrease the amount of non-pyro...

Thermal Conductivity, Phase Stability, and Oxidation Resistance of Y3Al5O12 (YAG)/Y2O3–ZrO2 (YSZ) Thermal-Barrier Coatings

This paper describes a new multilayer TBC that incorporates a 10 μm-thick oxygen barrier layer of yttrium–aluminum garnet (YAG) into a typical YSZ TBC system. The thermal conductivity of as-sprayed YAG/YSZ coatings was reduced due to excessive porosity and amorphous areas in the YAG layer. After long-term heat treatments, the conductivity of the multilayer was unaffected by the presence of YAG....
